The facebook is one of the new interactive friend websites. It was originally only for specific colleges but over the past year, thousands of colleges have adopted this trend. This site is tailored to college and high school students. The college version is only for students. In order to create an account you must provide a valid college e mail address and sign up through your school e mail. This is designed to create a more private atmosphere and help students interact with other students at their respective college. The facebook has many of the same elements as myspace. It allows students to write or sign one another's wall, add people as friends, search through classes, and send private messages to one another. Facebook acts as a tool for people to get in contact with other students at their school. Most students view eachothers profile from the comfort of their own home. This helps when socializing, for instance if you meet a person at a party and need to get in contact with them you can just facebook them. On the Ithaca College campus, the facebook has become increasingly popular. I personally have found myself saying "Ok, Facebook me" instead of "Ok, give me a call". The facebook has impacted students lives and left them with the question "What did I do before I had facebook?". This was exactly what the creator of facebook wanted out of this site. It has gone from a social friend website to a societal norm among college students.
